My candidacy is based on my belief in maximizing student potential. As a member of the school board I will work to serve all of our children by partnering with the community, schools and parents. We are all "Stakeholders" when it involves our students.

COMMUNITY – Enhance School and Community Partnerships!

• Ensure a wide range of representation from community organizations, civic associations and businesses
• Extend terms for participants on advisory committees and councils
• Establish additional opportunities for our young people to intern and provide community service

SCHOOLS – Map a Course Supporting the Long-Term Vision!

• Ensure that ALL children are performing at or above grade level in reading, writing and arithmetic prior to completion of the third grade
• Eliminate the "Expectation" gap between minority and white students
• Expand foreign language curriculum for elementary and middle school students
• Explore creative ways to ensure that our school system retains and recruits excellent educators
• Enable strategic thinking about the use of school properties for the best uses today and in the future

PARENTS – Energize Parents to Maximize Student Potential!

• Engage parents through informative outreach to better support families in determining the best educational choice for each student
• Encourage an open dialog through improved communication with parents to promote a process that values input from everyone
